God said “Give and Ye shall receive” well, it’s the same with List Building. If you want someone to give you their email address, you must give them something first.
Ask yourself these questions:
- Why should anyone be willing to give you their email address?
- What are you going to offer them in return?
- How is your list going to give them value in exchange for that personal information?
The answer to these questions is an “Incentive” a.k.a “A Lead Magnet.” If you don’t know yet, a lead magnet is something that you give away for free in return for your viewers’ email address.
Today, I will be giving you 5 type of Incentives you can use to start growing your list.
1. Free Reports
Free reports are usually short reports/articles. It usually shares a specific tip, technique or strategy. These should offer clear value to your readership whether that means saving them money, helping them to get into better shape or teaching them how to date. What’s more, you should sell them as being ‘exclusive’ to increase excitement.
Free Reports can include graphs, infographics, case studies, etc.. Be creative. There’s no rule to creating Free Reports.
2. eBook
Ebooks are around 20-100 pages long and include graphics and formatting that would normally cost money. They’re great incentives but do involve a little more incentive on your part. If you are new to this you will want to take time to research and really put together a valuable book. If you’ve been around for a while, you probably already have tons of articles, blogs, emails, etc… Check and see which content gets the most traffic. Group them by the topic, and voila! An easy and fast way to get an Ebook released. Because Ebooks are becoming more and more common, coaches/marketers now call it blueprints or guides.
3. Video Series
Videos offer a fantastic way to really engage with your audience and make your business seem very professional and capable. Pictures and videos are the top performing forms of sharing content shared online.
4. eCourse
An eCourse is a series of e-mails providing instructions and training on a certain subject. These are very effective because it means the e-mails become the incentive in themselves – and that way you know that your readers will have their eyes perpetually trained on their inboxes. I use convert kit to schedule email courses and teachable for more in-depth courses.
5. A Resource List
A comprehensive list of resources offers great value and it’s very easy, cheap and quick for you to create.
These are just some options for incentives and freebies. There are so much more but always ask yourself when choosing whether the incentive is:
a) inviting enough and
b) going to help serve your goals.
